Seamless Authentication & Roaming - PP#03
FMCA Priority Programme #03 is focused on the timely generation of requirements for seamless authentication and registration in a common, secure and consistent manner to multiple wireless networks; incl. Commercial Roaming models.
Centred on the FMCA's access agnostic approach to Convergence, this Priority Programme seeks to provide a framework, in close collaboration with leading roaming organisations, for the rapid availability of wireless roaming services globally, in a timely manner and in line with market developments.
Aims & Objectives:
- Address the technical requirements needed to enable Converged Wireless roaming.
- Evaluate technical options and existing solutions able to provide seamless authentication and registration in a common, secure and consistent manner across multiple wireless networks.
- Close collaboration with leading roaming standards organisations to leverage the benefits of Wireless Broadband and generate new service opportunities for members' businesses.
Key Deliverables:
- Input towards the FMCA Product Requirements Definitions, in terms of guidance on mechanism to achieve seamless authentications.
- Provide contributions to relevant Standards Development & Certification Organisations to enable inter-working of Fixed and Mobile domains and allow seamless roaming of users from these domains across other domains.
- To have, within agreed timescales, a trial that demonstrate EAP roaming on members' Wi-Fi networks.
- To have, within agreed timescales, a multi-network SIM able to access wireless networks.
