Converged Services & Applications - PP#04
The FMCA Converged Services & Applications Priority Programme is focused on defining convergence opportunities beyond voice, and the enablement of a wide range of convergence applications by gaining a consensus view on a core set of services that will stimulate new market opportunities.
The FMCA Converged Services & Applications Priority Programme therefore provides a framework for the delivery of services that are fully interoperable between multiple operators and across multiple networks, considering various service levels.
Aims & Objectives:

New service opportunities resulting from the common level of knowledge across the FMCA membership base on key future convergence applications.

Jointly exploit with FMCA members and industry the technical benefits of convergence to enable the delivery of innovative new services.

Reduce time to market for novel, revenue generating applications.

To achieve alignment with vendors and Standards Development and Certification Organisations, encouraging developments in areas such as:

APIs provided to application developers;

Embedded applications provided by handset vendors;

The functionality provided by the hardware platform;

Network protocols supported by the device.
Key Deliverables:
Commercial Service Interoperability Trials, within agreed timescales, amongst FMCA members for person-to-person communications services, such as:

IMS Applications e.g. Instant Messaging
